Le Jardin Secret is very pleased to announce the launch of its new CD, “Jean-Baptiste de Bousset: Airs sérieux”.  Now available for purchase on this website under “Music”!

Recorded for the specialist Belgian label, Fuga Libera, the CD of airs sérieux for voice and viol consort arrangement, delivered in historic French, represents the culmination of the group’s research into the forgotten repertoire of the prolific Jean-Baptiste Drouard de Bousset (1662-1725). Bousset was a celebrity in his own time in Paris but today his works lie neglected in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. Fans of French baroque vocal music may well already be familiar with Bousset’s “ Pourquoy, doux Rossignol”, which often makes it onto programmes of music of this genre. What is lesser known is that Bousset also wrote more than 800 other airs of this type, equally exquisite and unique.

We are very happy to be able to bring these miniature jewels to the ears of modern audiences for the first time in 300 years.
